About UsOUR MISSIONSF Community Power pilots innovative programs that improve our neighborhoods' environmental and economic conditions. We help small businesses and low-income families lower their expenses and reduce their ecological footprint. Our work provides policy makers with demonstrative ways to solve complex resource allocation issues. AWARDS• San Francisco Bay Guardian, Best of the Bay, "Best No-Brainer" (2006) OUR HISTORYSF Community Power was founded in 2001 with a $1.5 million grant from the San Francisco Department of the Environment. We originally focused on the Bayview-Hunters Point and Potrero Hill neighborhoods, providing energy management services to low-income families and small businesses, training under- and unemployed individuals in the neighborhood to implement energy conservation measures, creating the award-winning Treasure Trek, and successfully advocating for closure of the Hunters Point Power Plant and to stop the expansion of the Potrero Power Plant. Over the past several years, and with funding support from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, California Energy Commission, and California Public Utilities Commission, among others, we've expanded to serve homes and businesses throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and to pilot cutting-edge ways to better manage our scarce resources. |
