During summer months energy usage is at its peak. When demand for electricity exceeds supply, outages can be triggered, and the most polluting generating resources are used. To reduce outage risks, and lower polluting air and greenhouse gas emissions, the state offers programs that pay businesses and schools to temporarily reduce their electricity use.
