Try to create an environment in which leaving unused electronic devices on is akin to throwing litter on the kitchen floor. Make sure you educate your family members about the importance of turning off all lights, appliances, and electronic equipment, after they're done with them, using a power strip. Shutting off desktop computers that are on 24/7, at $.17/kWh, using a power strip will save roughly $125 annually. Consider using laptops at home. Laptops can use half as much energy as desktops. |
