The Problem

California is experiencing drought conditions, and with global climate change Californians can expect drier winters to become more common.

Water and energy use are directly related.  Water is typically used to cool power plants, and energy is needed to pump water to where it needs to go.  Even more directly, energy is used to heat water to wash dishes, clothes and for other applications.

The Facts

Put food coloring in your toilet tank. If it seeps into the toilet bowl without flushing, you have a leak. Fixing leaks can save up to 1,000 gallons a month, and reduce your meter bill.
